This one day workshop starts with a quick review of key terms and technologies to ensure an understanding of what is involved in today’s wireless network. It provides the attendee with not only a detailed understanding, but with techniques and tools to use for verifying the security and controls within their Wifi environment, including valuable demonstrations. Attendees will learn key concepts and how to ensure the security, audit and control of this environment.

Learning objectives

After completing this seminar, participants will be able to:

recognize the key elements of a wireless network;
describe how each part of the wireless network works;

Contents

In this course you will learn about the various types of wireless networks and what best practices you need for your wireless architecture.

You will also learn to recognise the risks of using WEP while understanding how WPA and WPA2 can improve security, with new content on the weaknesses in the WPA protocol.

Additionally, you learn about:

802.11 Security Architecture;
what’s new with WiMaS;
security tools and techniques;
using encryption to protect the network;
how IPSEC and VPN technology might increase security;
understanding and implementing best practices;
the audit process, step by step.
